Data Scientist

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain knowledge bases, vector stores, and Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines using Amazon Bedrock and Amazon OpenSearch Services
• Support the development, validation, and operationalization of statistical outputs and derived data products
• Coordinate with agency data science teams to implement Airflow DAGs and AWS Glue jobs
• Validate accuracy, completeness, and reporting readiness for production data products
• Develop and validate machine learning models and analytical pipelines using large-scale financial and regulatory datasets
• Write Python 3.10 code conforming to PEP 8 and integrate with ETL metadata infrastructure
• Support entity resolution work for high-volume financial datasets
• Produce documentation for methodology, data lineage, model assumptions, and refresh schedules
• Write automated tests achieving a minimum 90% code coverage
• Participate in agile ceremonies including 2-week sprints and quarterly PI planning

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field
• 3-5 years of experience in data science, machine learning engineering, or quantitative analytics
• Proficiency in Python 3.10 (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn)
• Hands-on experience with Amazon Bedrock, vector stores, and RAG pipeline design
• Experience with Amazon OpenSearch Services or equivalent vector/search infrastructure
• Experience with Apache Airflow (MWAA) for pipeline orchestration
• Familiarity with AWS Glue, S3, and Apache Spark
• Experience with SQL and tools such as Trino, Athena, or Redshift
• US Citizenship required
• Ability to work 8am-5pm Eastern Time
• Ability to obtain a federal public trust suitability determination

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with large-scale financial or regulatory datasets
• Knowledge of federal AI governance requirements and responsible AI practices
• Experience with agile development, CI/CD pipelines, and GitHub
• Familiarity with FISMA, NIST 800-53, and Zero Trust principles
