Decentralised Messaging Engineer

Responsibilities

• Implement messaging protocols in the reference SDK in production-quality Rust
• Own API design, ergonomics, and developer-facing documentation for the SDK
• Contribute to messaging protocol specifications alongside the team
• Tackle problems outside immediate scope and participate in async design discussions
• Write clear technical documentation for collaborators across the project

Requirements

• Deep familiarity with real-world instant messaging systems such as Signal, Matrix, or XMPP
• Experience with decentralised computing, peer-to-peer systems, or distributed networks
• Comfort working with cryptographic primitives and secure private messaging principles
• Solid Rust experience writing reliable, maintainable code in a team setting
• Previous experience with Web3, blockchains, open protocols, and their underlying values
• Strong alignment with the Logos manifesto and principles

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Post-Quantum Cryptography applied to secure messaging
• Experience with MLS or the OpenMLS library
• Authored or contributed to an open specification
• Familiarity with P2P transport layers such as Waku or libp2p
• Experience working for an open source organisation
• Comfortable working remotely and asynchronously
