Job description

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage relationships with landowners, community stakeholders and regulatory agencies
  • Manage third-party consultants, attorneys, and vendors for permitting and land acquisition
  • Oversee all permitting processes for renewable energy projects to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Coordinate with legal, environmental, and technical teams for necessary studies and documentation
  • Monitor and manage timelines and budgets for permitting and environmental studies
  • Engage with local governments and community groups to ensure project buy-in
  • Stay updated on regulatory and policy changes impacting land acquisition and permitting
  • Overcome site and regulatory challenges at complex sites

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Engineering, or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in renewable energy project development
  • Expertise in permitting, land acquisition, and regulatory compliance
  • Strong project management skills for concurrent project development
  • Working knowledge of land use regulations, environmental permitting, and zoning laws
  • Knowledge of solar and BESS equipment and construction processes
  • Experience negotiating land options, easements, and development service agreements
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations including NEPA, ESA, and Clean Water Act
  • Ability to travel for site visits and stakeholder engagement

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience with brownfield and landfill solar development
