Director of Data Platforms & Governance

Responsibilities

• Define the vision, roadmap, and operating model for the data platform to support analytics, product development, and AI initiatives
• Build, lead, and develop the data platforms team, fostering a culture of ownership and continuous improvement
• Establish a governance framework ensuring data is well-defined, trusted, and properly managed
• Design and evolve the cloud data platform using AWS technologies including S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift, and Lambda
• Oversee the development and reliability of data pipelines from product telemetry, APIs, and enterprise SaaS systems
• Lead the creation of curated datasets for reporting, operational decision making, and machine learning
• Ensure the data platform is structured to support AI and machine learning workloads
• Partner with Enterprise Applications to integrate systems like Salesforce and finance platforms
• Establish monitoring and operational processes for data accuracy, pipeline reliability, and freshness
• Work with IT and Security to ensure compliance with SOC2 and privacy requirements

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
• 10+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics platforms, or data infrastructure roles
• Proven experience leading teams and managing people
• Experience defining and executing data platform strategy in a cloud environment
• Strong expertise in AWS technologies (S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift, Lambda)
• Strong experience designing ETL/ELT pipelines
• Experience implementing data governance frameworks
• Strong SQL and data modeling expertise
• Experience integrating data from enterprise systems like Salesforce and finance platforms
• Strong leadership and communication skills to influence cross-functional stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP systems
• Experience supporting analytics, BI, data science, or AI/ML teams with scalable infrastructure
