Director of Engineering, Consumer Products

Responsibilities

• Oversee the success of the Growth and Patient Portal teams, ensuring high reliability and low defect rates
• Own the QA and Product Support functions across all application teams to set quality standards
• Lead through managers by coaching and developing engineering leaders and senior ICs
• Set and enforce a high technical quality bar and drive resolution of cross-boundary technical problems
• Identify and resolve issues regarding unclear ownership and cross-team dependencies
• Partner with product, design, and clinical teams to ensure a seamless patient experience
• Work with other Engineering Directors to drive consistent quality and velocity across the organization
• Build a positive and thriving engineering culture

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience
• 4+ years of engineering management experience, including managing managers or multiple teams
• Strong current technical background with the ability to be hands-on with architecture and code
• Hands-on experience with React, TypeScript, and AWS
• Enthusiasm for AI-assisted development and tools like Claude Code
• Proven track record of delivering business value with high reliability
• Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to handle accountability and high-performance standards

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Next.js
• Experience owning or partnering with QA and/or Product Support functions
• Experience working in a HIPAA-compliant environment
