Director of Licensing and Compliance

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and submission of new state lending license applications across target jurisdictions
• Manage the full application lifecycle including corporate documentation and financial statements
• Design and manage the end-to-end process for maintaining state lending licenses and NMLS submissions
• Oversee Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) licensing, registration, and onboarding workflows
• Lead preparation for state regulatory examinations and serve as the primary liaison with examiners
• Build and maintain compliance playbooks for annual state reporting obligations like MCRs and MSRs
• Establish foundational infrastructure for licensing including vendor relationships and technology tools

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in mortgage or consumer lending licensing and compliance
• Proven track record of obtaining new corporate state lending licenses in multiple jurisdictions
• Deep working knowledge of NMLS and multistate regulatory frameworks
• Direct experience preparing for and responding to state regulatory examinations
• Experience building a compliance program or function from the ground up
• Familiarity with compliance management software and NMLS batch processing
