Job description

About the Company

KoBold builds AI models for mineral exploration and deploys those models—alongside our novel sensors—to guide decisions on KoBold-owned-and-operated exploration programs. KoBold has become both the largest independent mineral exploration company and the largest exploration technology developer.

Responsibilities

  • Own the process flowsheet design for Mingomba and future KoBold projects, from scoping through feasibility
  • Manage metallurgical testwork programs including comminution, flotation, and hydrometallurgical evaluation
  • Evaluate and recommend processing routes such as froth flotation, SX-EW, and pressure oxidation
  • Build and maintain a geometallurgical framework linking ore variability to processing performance
  • Lead and mentor a mineral processing function within the Advanced Technology Group
  • Collaborate with data science teams to apply machine learning to metallurgical datasets
  • Coordinate with business development on offtake strategy and smelter negotiations

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience with large scale chemical processes
  • Experience with design/build from lab test work through large scale production
  • Track record of managing consultants, laboratories, and multidisciplinary technical teams
  • Strong technical writing skills for technical reports
  • Willingness to travel to project sites in Zambia and other locations (20–30%)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with copper sulfide projects from testwork through operating plant design
  • Deep understanding of comminution, flotation, and hydrometallurgy for base metals
  • Experience with sediment-hosted copper deposits (Zambian or Central African Copperbelt)
  • Familiarity with lithium or nickel laterite processing
  • Experience with geometallurgical modeling and integration into block models
  • Proficiency with data science tools like Python or SQL
