Director of Product Design and Research

Responsibilities

• Own and uphold design and research standards, including processes, tooling, and craft quality.
• Lead the user experience strategy for how technologists discover and interact with knowledge.
• Evolve the team’s AI-first design practices to maintain a pipeline from concept to production-ready code.
• Coach designers and researchers to support their career growth and leadership development.
• Build a high-trust, feedback-driven culture that balances autonomy with accountability.
• Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to co-author product strategy in an AI-first world.
• Build and maintain research infrastructure that drives actionable product decisions.

Requirements

• 10+ years of product design experience with a portfolio demonstrating exceptional craft and end-to-end thinking.
• 4+ years of experience leading and managing design or research teams at a product company.
• Strong background in B2B or enterprise products.
• Experience designing for AI-native or AI-augmented products and understanding their unique UX challenges.
• Exceptional UI and visual design judgment.
• Proficiency with functional prototyping and working at the intersection of design and code.
• Proven track record of people management built on honesty and trust.
