Responsibilities

  • Lead recruiting strategy for a 600+ person fully remote global team across 60+ countries
  • Design and execute multi-year talent acquisition strategy aligned to business goals
  • Build and scale a high-performing recruiting organization with strong internal mentors and leaders
  • Architect end-to-end recruitment infrastructure from workforce planning to onboarding
  • Lead employer branding initiatives to position Chess.com as a top destination in tech and gaming
  • Design equitable hiring frameworks that expand reach and ensure fair candidate evaluation
  • Use recruiting analytics to generate actionable insights and inform company-wide decisions
  • Partner with executives and department leaders on talent strategy, role design, and assessment

Requirements

  • 10+ years in talent acquisition with 4+ years leading recruiting teams and shaping strategy
  • Experience recruiting for remote and globally distributed teams
  • Strong background in tech or gaming industry hiring, including specialized roles like software engineering
  • Expertise in auditing, implementing, and optimizing full recruitment tech stacks (ATS, sourcing tools, data platforms)
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with executive leadership and translate data into business cases
  • Track record designing equitable hiring practices that improve quality, reach, and fairness
  • Genuine interest in gaming and Chess.com's mission with understanding of game development nuances

Preferred Qualifications

  • Network within gaming or tech communities (game studios, tech hubs, engineering communities)
  • Experience managing recruitment across multiple time zones during periods of significant scaling
  • Hands-on experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Looker, advanced Excel) for custom dashboards
  • Track record building employer brand through content, storytelling, or community engagement
  • Knowledge of unconventional sourcing methods (GitHub, Discord, niche gaming forums)
