Job description

Responsibilities

  • Design, architect, and build high-performance APIs and streaming data services using Python and Go
  • Develop governance, auditing, and management systems for Canonical's telemetry platform
  • Partner with infrastructure teams to build scalable cloud SaaS and containerized on-prem solutions
  • Lead feature design from specification to production, ensuring operational excellence at scale
  • Provide technical oversight, code reviews, and set engineering best practices
  • Collaborate with product teams and stakeholders on high-level technical solutions
  • Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement

Requirements

  • Proven experience designing scalable backend services, messaging pipelines, and REST APIs in Go or Python
  • Deep expertise in cybersecurity principles for IoT environments and secure data streaming
  • Hands-on experience with IAM models, encryption, access control, and compliance frameworks (GDPR, HIPAA)
  • Experience with data streaming technologies such as MQTT, Kafka, and RabbitMQ
  • Familiarity with observability tools (OpenTelemetry) and industrial protocols (OPC-UA, ModBus)
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or related field
  • Comfortable working remotely and willing to travel up to 4 times per year for events
