Embedded Linux Senior Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and implement Ubuntu integration for IoT and server-class hardware platforms
• Work with partners to deliver optimized Ubuntu experiences on their platforms
• Take a holistic approach to technical plans, testing strategy, and quality metrics
• Act as technical lead on complex customer engagements from cloud to edge
• Help customers integrate apps, SDKs, and build device OS images using Ubuntu Core, Desktop, and Server

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field
• Experience with Linux packaging (Debian, RPM, Yocto)
• Experience working with open source communities and licenses
• Proficiency with C and C++
• Ability to work effectively in a globally distributed team

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with graphics stacks
• Understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DHCP, HTTP/REST)
• Knowledge of security best practices in IoT or server environments
• Experience with IoT/Embedded systems (SoC, BMCs, bootloaders, firmware)
• Experience with Docker, OCI containers, or Kubernetes
• Public speaking experience
