Engineering Lead

Responsibilities

• Own the technical vision and architecture for a specific domain such as claims, underwriting, or infrastructure
• Partner with Technical Product Managers to translate business problems into technical requirements and projects
• Run technical reviews to ensure projects follow standards and do not create architectural sprawl
• Set and maintain company-wide technical standards and development practices
• Write code and solve the most complex technical problems within your domain
• Mentor engineers and coach Project Leads through difficult technical decisions
• Review production incidents to identify and fix architectural root causes

Requirements

• Deep experience designing, building, and operating complex software systems
• Proficiency with Python, Django, AWS, React, and PostgreSQL
• Proficiency developing with AI tools like Claude Code or Cursor
• Experience setting technical direction and influencing teams without formal management authority
• Experience working with distributed, remote teams
• Strong communication skills to translate technical complexity for product and business stakeholders
• Low ego and high emotional intelligence
