Engineering Manager - Front-End

About the Company

Bolt.new by StackBlitz is the team behind WebContainers, the technology that allows Node.js to run directly in the browser. They are building Bolt.new, an AI-powered builder that enables users to create, edit, and deploy web and mobile applications instantly.

Responsibilities

• Own UI architecture including component patterns, state management, and frontend infrastructure
• Write code regularly on complex features, migrations, and architectural improvements
• Review UI PRs and maintain quality standards across the domain
• Conduct performance reviews and manage career development for UI team members
• Make hiring decisions and build a high-performing, autonomous remote team culture
• Champion AI coding tools and build AI-powered UI features
• Coordinate with other Team Leads on cross-domain architectural decisions

Requirements

• 10+ years of frontend development experience
• 3+ years of technical leadership experience
• Expert knowledge of React, TypeScript, and modern frontend architecture
• Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS (Tailwind), and performance optimization
• Experience with design systems and complex UI flows
• Daily user of AI coding assistants like Cursor, Copilot, or Claude
• Strong UX sensibilities and experience with Figma/Sketch
• Proven track record of growing engineers to senior or staff levels

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Web Workers, Web Components, or Remix
• Background in design engineering or developer tooling
• Open-source contributions to UI libraries
• Knowledge of WebAssembly or advanced browser APIs
