Job description

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a team of engineers across a blended FTE/contractor model
  • Own delivery outcomes for your team’s product area and partner with Product leadership
  • Shape and execute the technical roadmap including infrastructure modernization
  • Maintain operational excellence, system reliability, and data integrity
  • Own the hiring loop including sourcing, interview calibration, and closing talent
  • Contribute to technical leadership through ADRs, design reviews, and code reviews
  • Drive healthy engineering practices such as testing discipline, CI/CD, and incident response
  • Enable the team to adopt AI-assisted development tooling effectively
  • Communicate roadmaps, status, risks, and decisions clearly in writing

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience managing software engineering teams
  • Experience managing mixed FTE and contractor teams
  • Strong technical background in Node.js and modern JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Proficiency with Angular or a similar modern front-end framework
  • Experience with integration-heavy systems and data reliability
  • Familiarity with DORA, SPACE, or equivalent management frameworks
  • Production experience in AWS environments (ECS/EKS, serverless, managed databases)
  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted coding tools like Claude Code or Cursor
  • Fluency in Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in K-12 EdTech or mission-driven SaaS environments
  • Background managing high-reliability, high-transaction-volume systems
  • Experience running blended onshore/offshore engineering teams at scale
  • Experience with organizational scaling such as splitting or merging teams
