Engineering Manager, Platform - Cloud Infrastructure

Valon is building the AI-native operating system for regulated finance, starting with mortgage servicing. We are a Series C company backed by a16z, transforming industries through our unified platform, ValonOS.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 5+ engineers focused on infrastructure and platform tooling
• Own technical strategy, planning, and execution for core platform initiatives
• Act as a technical mentor and hands-on contributor, guiding architecture and writing code
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and operations to build infrastructure that unlocks innovation
• Establish and evolve engineering processes for velocity and quality
• Invest in recruiting and developing engineering talent through coaching and mentorship
• Promote a high-agency, high-accountability team culture

Requirements

• 4+ years of software engineering experience
• 1+ years in a tech lead or engineering management role
• Experience in infrastructure, platform engineering, DevOps, or cloud systems
• Strong systems thinking and understanding of backend/infrastructure interactions
• Hands-on experience with cloud providers (AWS, GCP), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and distributed systems
• Proven track record of leading teams in high-growth environments
• Strong product mindset and communication skills
