About the Company

Pliant is a European fintech specializing in B2B payment solutions. Our modular, API-first platform helps businesses streamline spending, improve cash flow, and integrate payments into their financial workflows. Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a high-performing, interdisciplinary engineering team
  • Provide up to 50% hands-on development in the initial phase
  • Mentor engineers and support career development through regular performance reviews
  • Champion engineering excellence, including test-driven development and continuous integration
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and Designers to define roadmaps and align on business goals
  • Drive technical direction and steer release timelines for the authentication and authorization architecture
  • Set and track quarterly team OKRs

Requirements

  • 7+ years of software development experience with Java, Kotlin, or Spring Boot
  • 2+ years of experience in leadership or management roles
  • Strong background in distributed, testable, and maintainable backend systems
  • Prior experience with authentication and authorization topics
  • Deep understanding of REST APIs, PostgreSQL, and microservices
  • Proven ability to mentor engineers and drive technical best practices
  • Strong problem-solving skills and project management capabilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on security-related infrastructure
  • Experience working with third-party security vendors
