Engineering Manager

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a new interdisciplinary engineering team, including hiring and onboarding
• Provide hands-on technical leadership and architect scalable, secure solutions
• Partner with Product Managers and Designers to define mission, problem space, and OKRs
• Drive technical direction for AI-enabled features, including LLM integration and evaluation
• Mentor engineers and foster a culture of engineering excellence and psychological safety
• Collaborate across engineering, infrastructure, and data teams to shape interfaces
• Manage quarterly team OKRs and participate in the on-call rotation

Requirements

• 7+ years of total engineering experience with 2+ years in management
• Strong hands-on backend experience with Java, Kotlin, and Spring Boot
• Solid knowledge of REST APIs, PostgreSQL, and microservices
• Proven experience leading teams and mentoring engineers
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and product-shaped problems
• Interest in building user-facing product features and practical AI applications

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with LLMs, agents, RAG, evals, or MCPs
• Experience shipping production AI features
• Experience starting a new team from scratch or restructuring existing units
• Experience working in regulated environments like fintech or healthtech
