Engineering Manager

Vannevar is a defense technology company building AI to deter our adversaries. Our agentic AI is purpose-built to compete in modern conflict, modeling adversary behavior and recommending courses of action to decision makers. We are a small, agile team of world-class engineers and veteran strategists focused on mission impact and national security.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Decision Advantage team in designing, building, and shipping applications, services, and agents
• Partner with customers, mission owners, and designers to understand user workflows and drive outcomes
• Reduce friction and duplication by building strong technical patterns and reusable services
• Grow and mentor a high-performing team of full-stack engineers
• Collaborate with Design, Platform, and Product teams to deliver reliable software

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience leading software engineering teams
• 8+ years of professional software development experience
• Strong technical judgment across full-stack systems
• Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or similar
• Experience with Postgres or other relational databases
• Experience with AWS or other cloud services
• U.S. Citizenship required
• Willingness to travel to off-sites and customer sites

Preferred Qualifications

• Active security clearance or ability to obtain one
• Prior experience building software for defense, national security, or intelligence use cases
