Engineering Program Lead

About the Company

Planting is building a system that represents domain knowledge as modular probabilistic models, making analysis rigorous and transparent. The system allows users to connect models flexibly into larger structures, enforcing consistency and propagating uncertainty. Initial applications target finance and scientific research, including equity valuation and particle physics.

Responsibilities

• Manage the development roadmap by identifying interdependencies and adapting to priority shifts
• Lead quarterly planning processes, including reviews and risk management
• Steer features from idea to implementation, bridging gaps between product specification and technical design
• Maintain technical documentation and company-wide tooling processes
• Facilitate communication across channels to connect team members with resources
• Stay hands-on by contributing to high-priority development tasks and automations

Requirements

• Software engineering experience in a collaborative, commercial environment
• Experience with large codebases and CI/CD, testing, and code reviews
• Proficiency in functional/typed languages (e.g., Rust, OCaml, Clojure, C++, or Haskell)
• Willingness to learn and work with Julia
• Experience implementing pragmatic organizational processes
• Background in Technical Product Management with complex technical systems
• Experience coordinating workflows and coaching or mentoring team members
