Foochow-English OPI/VRI Interpreter

Responsibilities

• Answer calls professionally following the Interpreter's code of conduct
• Take accurate notes during calls and render all messages completely without adding, omitting, or substituting
• Apply medical and legal terminology knowledge to facilitate communication between Limited English Proficient speakers and clients
• Participate in internal professional training and pursue new certifications
• Report to team leaders and comply with dress code requirements for video remote interpreting

Requirements

• Native fluency in Foochow and fluent English
• High school diploma in native language
• High emotional intelligence and tolerance for different cultures
• Strong communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills
• 1+ years of OPI experience preferred but not mandatory
• Medical terminology knowledge and healthcare certifications (PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA) preferred

Preferred Qualifications

• Wired internet connection with minimum 10 Mbps download and 3 Mbps upload (Wi-Fi not allowed)
• Windows 10 PC with dual core 2 GHz processor (Intel Core i5 or superior) and 8GB RAM minimum
• Wired USB noise-cancelling headset with built-in microphone (no Bluetooth or wireless)
• Computer operating in "High Performance" mode with power adapter plugged in
• No Chromebooks, Macs, tablets, or mobile devices permitted
