Job description
Responsibilities
- Architect end-to-end satellite-image processing pipelines (STAC to xarray to Parquet/Zarr/IPFS)
- Build and ship product features including Next.js/React dashboards and geospatial APIs using Node, Python, or FastAPI
- Scale and harden infrastructure using IaC, CI/CD, and orchestration tools like Prefect
- Profile memory and I/O to maintain affordable petabyte-scale workflows
- Establish engineering best practices, conduct code reviews, and mentor future engineers
Requirements
- Proficiency in Python (for data) and TypeScript, React/Next.js, and Node.js
- Experience with data infrastructure including Dask, DuckDB, S3, and columnar formats like Parquet or Arrow
- Strong GIS and remote-sensing knowledge using tools such as xarray, GeoPandas, STAC, Rasterio, or GDAL
- Hands-on experience with Docker, AWS compute services, and orchestration via Prefect
- Ability to reason about distributed systems and data-versioning at petabyte-plus scale
- A mission-driven mindset focused on fighting climate change
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading small teams or owning large-scale production systems
- Knowledge of GPU-accelerated image processing (cuDF, RAPIDS, TorchGeo)
- Machine Learning expertise and MLOps experience (PyTorch/TensorFlow)
- Background in carbon/MRV methodologies or environmental/agricultural science
