Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and improve a comprehensive compliance program spanning DME, telehealth, and digital health operations
  • Serve as the company's Compliance Officer, maintaining all relevant policies, procedures, and training programs
  • Conduct and oversee internal compliance audits and manage regulatory inquiries
  • Own legal and regulatory matters related to telehealth platforms and DME supply and billing operations (CMS/Medicare, Medicaid)
  • Advise on licensure requirements across all 50 states for telehealth and DME
  • Lead HIPAA compliance enterprise-wide, including BAA management and breach response
  • Oversee compliance with state privacy laws like CCPA and Washington My Health My Data Act
  • Negotiate and manage key commercial contracts, including partner and vendor agreements
  • Serve as the first-line legal resource for employment law questions in partnership with HR
  • Provide legal support on strategic partnerships and government program relationships

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • 10+ years of legal experience with substantial healthcare law expertise
  • Deep expertise in DME regulations and Medicare/Medicaid billing
  • Hands-on telehealth regulatory experience across multiple states
  • Demonstrated experience building or running a compliance program
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare data privacy
  • Proven ability to operate independently in a startup or scaling-stage business

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in digital health or health tech
  • Familiarity with FTC regulations regarding health claims
  • Experience supporting government program partnerships (VA, CMS, etc.)
  • Prior experience as a fractional, embedded, or sole in-house counsel
