Geospatial Database Administrator

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, operate, and maintain geospatial databases and data storage solutions
• Monitor database performance, capacity, and availability
• Configure and manage geodatabases, including schema design and metadata structures
• Support data integration, ingestion, and transformation across geospatial systems
• Implement database security, access controls, and data protection measures
• Develop and maintain scripts and automation for database maintenance and optimization
• Support backup, recovery, redundancy, and disaster recovery processes
• Troubleshoot and resolve database issues and performance bottlenecks
• Ensure compliance with DHS standards and data policies

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, IT, GIS, or related field
• 7+ years of experience managing geospatial or database systems
• Experience designing and managing geodatabases
• Experience with database management systems (DBMS) and data architecture
• Experience with data integration, ETL processes, and data workflows
• Proficiency in scripting or automation (e.g., Python, SQL)
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting DHS or other federal government programs
• Familiarity with Esri geospatial platforms and enterprise GIS environments
• Experience with cloud-based data storage solutions like AWS S3
• Experience with data federation, REST services, and system integration
