Job description

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and refinement of methodologies for geospatial data collection, acquisition, and maintenance
  • Manage data intake and prioritize needs based on DHS component use cases
  • Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for data acquisition and QA/QC
  • Oversee budget management for high-priority geospatial data products
  • Define and enforce requirements for accuracy, coverage, resolution, and licensing
  • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate licensing agreements
  • Lead QA/QC efforts including data review, validation, and standardized checklists
  • Automate data processing workflows and maintain geospatial metadata
  • Oversee data registration, cataloging, and publication within government platforms

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience leading geospatial data acquisition and quality management
  • Expertise in cartography, GIS, data management, and geospatial infrastructure
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and negotiating data contracts
  • Proven ability to develop and apply QA/QC procedures to geospatial datasets
  • Experience with scripting, automation, and geospatial data processing tools
  • Familiarity with geospatial data standards, metadata management, and federal data policies
  • Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience supporting DHS or other federal agency geospatial programs
  • Familiarity with commercial and open-source geospatial tools and platforms
  • Experience with federated data architectures and RESTful geospatial services
  • Advanced knowledge of geospatial data lifecycle management
  • Strong network within the geospatial data provider community
