Job description
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and refinement of methodologies for geospatial data collection, acquisition, and maintenance
- Manage data intake and prioritize needs based on DHS component use cases
- Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for data acquisition and QA/QC
- Oversee budget management for high-priority geospatial data products
- Define and enforce requirements for accuracy, coverage, resolution, and licensing
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate licensing agreements
- Lead QA/QC efforts including data review, validation, and standardized checklists
- Automate data processing workflows and maintain geospatial metadata
- Oversee data registration, cataloging, and publication within government platforms
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience leading geospatial data acquisition and quality management
- Expertise in cartography, GIS, data management, and geospatial infrastructure
- Experience managing vendor relationships and negotiating data contracts
- Proven ability to develop and apply QA/QC procedures to geospatial datasets
- Experience with scripting, automation, and geospatial data processing tools
- Familiarity with geospatial data standards, metadata management, and federal data policies
- Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience supporting DHS or other federal agency geospatial programs
- Familiarity with commercial and open-source geospatial tools and platforms
- Experience with federated data architectures and RESTful geospatial services
- Advanced knowledge of geospatial data lifecycle management
- Strong network within the geospatial data provider community
