German OPI/VRI Interpreter

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate German-English interpretation via phone (OPI) and video (VRI) for healthcare and medical settings
• Render all messages completely and accurately without adding, omitting, or substituting content
• Facilitate communication between Limited English Proficient patients and healthcare providers
• Maintain professional conduct and adhere to interpreter standards of practice
• Take detailed notes during calls and apply specialized medical terminology knowledge
• Participate in internal professional training and pursue relevant certifications
• Report to team leadership and comply with dress code requirements for video sessions

Requirements

• Native fluency in German and fluent English
• 1+ years of telephone interpretation experience with a recognized interpretation company
• Solid knowledge of medical terminology; legal terminology knowledge is a plus
• High school diploma or equivalent
• High emotional intelligence and demonstrated tolerance across cultures
• Strong communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills
• Healthcare industry certifications (PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA, etc.) preferred

Preferred Qualifications

• Dedicated high-speed wired internet: minimum 10 Mbps download, 3 Mbps upload (Wi-Fi not permitted)
• Windows 10 or higher with dual core 2 GHz processor (Intel Core i3 or better) and 8 GB RAM minimum
• Single computer or laptop operating in "High Performance" mode with power adapter plugged in
• Wired noise-cancelling headset with built-in microphone (no wireless/Bluetooth, no 3.5mm adapters)
• Chromebooks, tablets, and mobile devices are not permitted
