Job description
Responsibilities
- Conduct steady-state transmission system analysis using TARA to evaluate large load and data center interconnection opportunities
- Support technical analysis for large load interconnection and transmission service requests in ERCOT, MISO, SPP, and PJM markets
- Review utility, ISO, and consultant study results to determine feasibility and upgrade exposure
- Develop data-driven tools, screening methods, and dashboards for interconnection evaluation
- Use Python to automate data processing, study workflows, and repetitive analytical tasks
- Leverage AI-driven tools like Perplexity and GitHub Copilot to improve engineering productivity
- Participate in interconnection scoping meetings and technical discussions with utilities and grid authorities
- Monitor transmission planning, queue reform, and large load integration developments
- Provide technical guidance to internal teams on upgrade risks and market-specific requirements
Requirements
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering required
- 3+ years of professional experience in the power and energy industry
- Strong background in power systems analysis and transmission fundamentals
- Proficiency with TARA or comparable transmission analysis tools
- Strong Python skills for automation and data analysis
- Familiarity with AI-driven tools like Perplexity and GitHub Copilot
- Working knowledge of market rules in ERCOT, MISO, SPP, and PJM
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- M.S. in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power or Energy Systems
- Familiarity with PSS/E for load modeling
- Experience or interest in regulatory environments regarding data center growth and queue pressures
