Haitian Creole Interpreter

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate OPI/VRI interpretation between Haitian Creole and English in healthcare and medical settings
• Render all messages completely and accurately without adding, omitting, or substituting content
• Maintain professional conduct and adhere to interpreter standards of practice
• Take detailed notes during calls to ensure precise communication
• Facilitate understanding between Limited English Proficient individuals and clients
• Participate in internal professional training and pursue relevant certifications
• Report to team leadership and comply with dress code requirements for video calls

Requirements

• Native fluency in Haitian Creole and fluent English
• 1+ years of OPI/VRI experience with a recognized interpretation company
• Solid knowledge of medical terminology; legal terminology knowledge preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent
• High emotional intelligence and cultural sensitivity
• Strong communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills
• Healthcare certifications (PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA, etc.) are a plus

Preferred Qualifications

• Wired internet connection with minimum 10 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload (Wi-Fi not permitted)
• Windows 10 or higher with dual core 2 GHz processor (Intel Core i5 or better)
• 8 GB RAM minimum; computer must run in "High Performance" mode
• Wired noise-cancelling headset with built-in microphone (no Bluetooth or wireless)
• Single dedicated device (laptop or desktop); no tablets, phones, or Chromebooks
