Hakha Chin Interpreter

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate OPI/VRI interpretation between Hakha Chin and English in healthcare and medical settings
• Render all messages completely without adding, omitting, or substituting content
• Maintain professional conduct and adhere to interpreter standards of practice
• Take detailed notes during calls to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Facilitate transparent communication between Limited English Proficient clients and English speakers
• Participate in internal professional training and pursue relevant certifications
• Report to team leadership and comply with dress code for video remote interpreting

Requirements

• Native fluency in Hakha Chin and fluent English
• High school diploma or equivalent
• High emotional intelligence and tolerance for diverse cultures
• Strong communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills
• 1+ years of OPI/VRI experience preferred
• Knowledge of medical and legal terminology preferred
• Healthcare certifications preferred (PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA)

Preferred Qualifications

• Dedicated wired internet: minimum 10 Mbps download / 3 Mbps upload (Wi-Fi not permitted)
• Windows 10 or higher, Intel Core i5+ processor, 8GB RAM minimum
• USB wired noise-cancelling headset with built-in microphone (no Bluetooth/wireless)
• Computer operating in "High Performance" mode with power adapter plugged in
• No Chromebooks, Macs, tablets, or mobile devices permitted
