Hakha Chinese Interpreter

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate OPI/VRI interpretation between Hakha Chinese and English in healthcare and medical settings
• Render all messages completely without adding, omitting, or substituting content
• Maintain professional conduct and adhere to interpreter code of ethics
• Take detailed notes during calls to ensure accuracy
• Apply medical terminology knowledge and industry-specific vocabulary
• Facilitate communication between Limited English Proficient patients and healthcare providers
• Participate in internal professional training and pursue relevant certifications
• Report to team leaders and comply with dress code for video remote interpreting

Requirements

• Native fluency in Hakha Chinese and fluent English
• High school diploma or equivalent
• High emotional intelligence and cultural tolerance
• Strong communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills
• 1+ years of OPI/VRI experience preferred but not required
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
• Healthcare certifications (PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA, etc.) preferred

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in telephone or video remote interpretation
• Familiarity with legal terminology
• Relevant healthcare industry certifications
