Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy to engage policymakers, AI researchers, and industry leaders
• Oversee content development, including policy-focused technical content and social media strategies
• Leverage relationships with key journalists to secure high-impact coverage in influential outlets
• Lead rapid response communications to address misconceptions surrounding AI safety
• Mentor and expand the communications team, including content and social media specialists
• Own the cross-channel editorial calendar and FAR.AI’s website brand surface
• Represent FAR.AI at industry events and conferences to build reputation as an AI safety authority

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in communications, public relations, science journalism, or policy communication
• 2+ years of experience managing people and specialized teams
• Proven track record of setting strategy and vision in communications or brand domains
• Experience leading complex initiatives from goal setting through cross-functional delivery
• Hands-on fluency across earned media, brand, and content creation
• Strong strategic judgment and ability to manage multiple stakeholders
• Deep interest in AI safety and the organization's mission

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to synthesize complex technical topics for non-technical audiences
• Familiarity with the AI landscape and engagement with governments or AI companies
• Background in advocacy or political communications related to technology policy
• Experience building and scaling communications teams in fast-growing organizations
• Existing relationships with high-profile journalists in tech and policy spaces
