Head of Engineering

Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering transition from discrete tools to a unified, scalable platform
• Define target team structures and manage the hiring and onboarding of new engineers
• Design and implement development processes to support both feature delivery and platform migration
• Manage and mentor a globally distributed team of developers, scientists, and engineers
• Drive adherence to high engineering standards, modern workflows, and CI/CD practices
• Collaborate cross-functionally with GIS, soil science, and commercial teams to align technical roadmaps with business goals
• Act as the senior engineering voice in company-wide product and strategy discussions

Requirements

• Strong engineering experience with hands-on capability in Python and React.js
• Proven architectural expertise, particularly within AWS environments (RDS, ECS)
• Demonstrated experience leading platform transitions or large-scale architectural redesigns
• Expertise in large-scale data architecture and data engineering pipelines
• Experience leading distributed engineering teams, including hiring and professional coaching
• Proficiency with modern software engineering toolchains, including CI/CD and IaC
• Experience building and deploying rule-based, algorithmic, or pipeline-driven models

Preferred Qualifications

• Android development skills or experience with Java
• Experience working with geospatial and climate data feeds (e.g., Google Earth Engine)
