Head of Quality Engineering

Responsibilities

• Define the global quality framework, including coverage standards (unit, service, integration, E2E) and gate criteria.
• Own the automated quality enforcement system, aiming for over 80% of release decisions to be made by automated tooling.
• Drive the development and scaling of AI-assisted test tooling and agentic QA pipelines.
• Exercise pre-release veto authority by implementing self-triggering automated quality gates.
• Enable Stream Aligned Teams (SATs) through the creation of training, documentation, and tooling that allows engineers to own quality.
• Partner with Platform and Security teams to integrate test data management and security scanning (SAST/DAST) into the CI/CD pipeline.
• Report on key quality metrics such as defect escape rates, coverage trends, and AI tooling adoption.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in software quality engineering, specifically owning frameworks across large engineering organizations.
• Proven track record of building CI/CD quality gates at multiple levels (unit, service, integration, and E2E).
• Practical experience or a strong technical point of view regarding AI-assisted test tooling and LLM-driven test generation.
• Deep understanding of distributed, event-driven microservices architectures and contract testing.
• Experience in regulated fintech, banking, or payments environments.
• Ability to influence engineering standards through tooling and documentation rather than direct reporting authority.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with agentic or generative AI test tooling in production environments.
• Familiarity with Team Topologies (Stream Aligned, Platform, and Enabling teams).
• Background in crypto, Web3, or blockchain-based systems.
• Experience integrating security testing (SAST, DAST) into automated quality gates.
