Hmong Interpreter - OPI/VRI

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate OPI/VRI interpretation between Hmong and English speakers in healthcare and other industries
• Render all messages completely without adding, omitting, or substituting content
• Maintain professional conduct and adhere to interpreter code of ethics
• Take detailed notes during calls to ensure accuracy
• Apply industry-specific terminology standards, particularly in medical settings
• Participate in internal professional training and pursue relevant certifications
• Report to team leadership and maintain communication with assigned coordinators
• Comply with dress code requirements for video remote interpreting sessions

Requirements

• Native fluency in Hmong and fluent English proficiency
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1+ years of OPI/VRI interpretation experience preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology strongly preferred
• High emotional intelligence and cultural sensitivity
• Strong listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Windows 10 or higher operating system
• Dual-core 2GHz processor (Intel Core i5 or superior)
• 8GB RAM minimum
• Wired internet connection: 10 Mbps download / 3 Mbps upload minimum
• USB wired noise-cancelling headset with built-in microphone
• No Wi-Fi, Chromebook, Mac, or Bluetooth devices permitted
