Hmong Interpreter - Remote OPI/VRI

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate Hmong-English interpretation via phone (OPI) and video (VRI) in healthcare and medical settings
• Render all messages completely and accurately without adding, omitting, or substituting content
• Maintain professional conduct and adhere to interpreter standards of practice
• Take detailed notes during calls to ensure precise communication
• Apply specialized medical terminology and industry-specific vocabulary
• Facilitate communication between Limited English Proficient individuals and healthcare providers
• Participate in internal professional training and pursue relevant certifications
• Report to team leaders and comply with dress code requirements for video sessions

Requirements

• Native fluency in Hmong and fluent English proficiency
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1+ years of OPI/VRI interpretation experience preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
• Healthcare industry certifications (PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA, etc.) preferred
• High emotional intelligence and cultural sensitivity
• Strong communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Windows 10+ computer with dual-core 2 GHz processor (Intel Core i5 or superior)
• 8GB RAM minimum, operating in "High Performance" mode
• Wired internet connection with minimum 10 Mbps download / 3 Mbps upload (Wi-Fi not permitted)
• USB wired noise-cancelling headset with built-in microphone (no Bluetooth or wireless)
• Power adapter plugged in; no battery operation
• Chromebook and Mac devices not permitted
