IMS Core Engineer

Responsibilities

• Manage networks and nodes within the IMS domain for 2.5G, 3G, and 4G networks (SIP, H323, IMS/IMT, VoLTE, VoWiFi)
• Use and build dashboards to discover issues and patterns
• Follow communication procedures for internal and external incident handling
• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, security audits, and emergency response
• Undertake fault handling and corrective actions at node, service, and infrastructure levels
• Handle project activities including implementing new IMS E2E service functionalities
• Provide 7x24 monitoring shift coverage including on-call support
• Perform Wireshark tracing of critical infrastructure to debug issues
• Verify and implement configuration changes and process improvements

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in the core network domain with mobile networks
• BSc degree in Telecommunication or Computer Science
• Working knowledge of 2G, 2.5G, 3G, and LTE networks (MME, SGW, PGW)
• Deep understanding of IMS evolution, subsystems, functionalities, and call flows
• Knowledge of IMS network topology, interfaces, and core parameters
• Experience with Core Nodes including P-CSCF, I-CSCF, S-CSCF, MTAS, HSS, CUDB, and MGCF
• Proficiency with SS7, ISUP, BICC, SIP, H248, and Diameter signaling protocols
• Experience in IMS platform operation, maintenance, and fault diagnostics
• Hands-on experience with Linux/Unix-based systems and shell environments
• Proficiency with Wireshark and advanced testing tools
• Understanding of 3GPP, ITU-T, and ANSI standards
• Knowledge of roaming agreements and IR.21/IREG testing
• Fluency in English (written and spoken)
• Ability to work morning/afternoon shifts

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of scripting experience with Python or Bash
