Insurance Verification Specialist

Responsibilities

• Act as a liaison between patients, providers, and insurance companies to ensure data collection and compliance
• Obtain benefits, eligibility, and preauthorization
• Serve as a financial counselor explaining insurance and payment options
• Verify insurance benefits and prior authorization requirements using knowledge of managed care contracts
• Notify patients of estimated liability and screen for Financial Assistance Program eligibility
• Coordinate with physician offices regarding prior authorization requirements
• Collaborate with departments to ensure smooth processes and timely notification of schedule changes
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and provide high-quality customer service

Requirements

• One year of healthcare or related experience
• Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking)
• Ability to obtain necessary computer skills for job-specific competencies within 90 days

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business or health sciences
• Knowledge of medical terminology and surgical equipment
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding
