International Tax Senior Manager

KoBold builds AI models for mineral exploration and deploys those models—alongside our novel sensors—to guide decisions on KoBold-owned-and-operated exploration programs. In the six years since founding, KoBold has become by far both the largest independent mineral exploration company and the largest exploration technology developer.

Responsibilities

• Manage international direct tax compliance for multiple jurisdictions including Canada, the Nordic Region, UK, Europe, Australia, Zambia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo
• Strategize, research, and plan for tax implications of global operations, coordinating U.S. and foreign tax laws
• Support the development and execution of corporate restructurings, entity reorganizations, and capitalization strategies
• Develop and maintain tax systems that leverage AI to support strategic decision-making, including cash tax forecasting and scenario analysis
• Provide technical expertise and operational support for indirect taxes (VAT, withholding taxes, sales/use taxes, customs duties)
• Partner with Procurement, Supply Chain, Technology, Operations, Finance, and Legal on tax and customs implications
• Research and identify tax planning opportunities including incentives, credits, and treaty benefits
• Assist with tax audits and controversy matters by coordinating responses and developing technical positions
• Build scalable processes and documentation as the company transitions from exploration to production

Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years of tax experience
• Strong knowledge of U.S. and international tax regimes
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and use of AI applications
• Ability to work effectively across cultures and collaborate with international teams
• Valid passport and willingness to travel to exploration sites (typically 3-5 trips per year)
• High degree of independence and ability to work with limited supervision

Preferred Qualifications

• Public accounting, law firm, and/or in-house experience
• CPA, JD, or LLM (Tax) certification
