Japanese Linguist (Legal Specialist)

Responsibilities

• Perform end-to-end TEP (translate, edit, proofread) for certified legal content from English (en-US) into Japanese (ja-JP)
• Ensure all translations preserve legal meaning, intent, and enforceability
• Work within XTM Cloud following specific style guides, legal requirements, and terminology protocols
• Conduct terminology research and maintain/expand glossaries and Translation Memories (TMs)
• Implement SME and LQA feedback to address quality findings and drive continuous improvement
• Proactively flag linguistic or legal-risk issues and propose resolutions
• Collaborate effectively in a multi-vendor environment to meet strict turnaround SLAs

Requirements

• Native fluency in Japanese (ja-JP) with an excellent command of English
• Proven expertise in Certified Legal translation, specifically within domains like NDAs, MSAs, EULAs, DPAs, compliance, and procurement
• Proficiency with XTM Cloud and various QA/terminology tools
• Ability to follow detailed instructions, style guides, and legal certification protocols
• Experience delivering both translation and review services in a multi-vendor setup
• Degree in linguistics, translation, or law (or equivalent professional experience)
