JCL Mainframe Migration Engineer

Responsibilities

• Analyze Control-M and/or Atomic schedule on mainframe
• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and investigation of JCL jobs on mainframe including spool and SMF
• Analyze CICS environment for loaded programs and configuration
• Work with ISPF, GDG, PDS, and MFT for migration investigation
• Support conversion of mainframe batch jobs (JCL) to PowerShell scripts for Azure
• Configure and automate nightly, weekly, and monthly batch jobs in Azure
• Optimize batch job performance regarding concurrency, multi-threading, and thread safety
• Discover and document business requirements for batch jobs
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams
• Develop and maintain PowerShell modules including code signing and security practices

Requirements

• Expert knowledge of Mainframe JCL
• Expert knowledge of Mainframe Job schedulers, specifically Control-M
• Expert knowledge of Mainframe CICS, especially familiarity with CA Ideal
• Strong experience with PowerShell scripting and automation in Azure
• Expertise in mainframe batch job concepts including GDG and PDS
• Experience with C#, .NET, SQL Server, and Azure Storage
• Understanding of thread safety, locking mechanisms, and concurrency in scripting
• Experience with mainframe to cloud migration projects
• Experience with Agile methodologies
