Job description

Responsibilities

  • Provide video remote interpreting (VRI) services for Korean-speaking patients and their families in medical settings
  • Advocate for Limited English Proficient (LEP) patients' access to healthcare services
  • Provide intercultural mediation to assist providers in delivering culturally sensitive patient care
  • Maintain a commitment to patient privacy, safety, and exceptional customer experience

Requirements

  • 1+ years of medical interpreting experience or completion of a successful internship program
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Korean (native-level Korean fluency preferred)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Professional level medical interpreting skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certifications such as CMI, CHI, CCHI, NBCMI, or an interpreting diploma
  • Completion of a 40-hour medical interpreting course
  • Experience working in medical or human services settings
  • Short non-publication translation skills
