Lead Analyst, Transaction Monitoring

Responsibilities

• Investigate complex money laundering, terrorist financing, and other financial crime typologies
• Analyze transactions using internal systems, payment processor tools, and analytical platforms
• Analyze large and complex datasets to identify emerging financial crime trends
• Lead investigations into complex donations, fundraisers, organizers, beneficiaries, and donors
• Assess whether suspicious activity should be escalated internally
• Review investigations completed by Transaction Monitoring Analysts for quality and regulatory standards
• Provide coaching, mentorship, and day-to-day guidance to Transaction Monitoring Analysts
• Drive the development and continuous improvement of transaction monitoring rules and operational procedures
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to investigate and mitigate financial crime risks
• Lead or co-lead cross-functional initiatives in partnership with Product, Legal, Compliance, or Trust & Safety teams

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in financial crime investigations, transaction monitoring, or payments risk
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred
• Strong proficiency in data analysis tools such as Looker, SQL, and Excel
• Strong understanding of AML and ATF legislation and regulatory expectations
• Experience conducting complex investigations involving money laundering, terrorist financing, or fraud
• Experience reviewing investigations, providing quality assurance, or coaching teammates
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Familiarity with machine learning or AI-driven tools for fraud detection

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certifications such as CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist)
• Experience working with Transaction Monitoring, Regulatory Reporting, or Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs)
• Fluency with another EU language
