Lead Android Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead Android implementation for member experiences using Jetpack Compose and design systems
• Set technical direction for a multi-module Kotlin codebase involving coroutines, flows, and dependency injection
• Guide systems connecting with Wear OS, Health Connect, and various health sensors
• Own app reliability, performance, and data synchronization
• Set expectations for code quality, testing, and observability
• Improve delivery pipelines including Gradle, GitHub Actions, and Fastlane
• Lead the Android team through technical planning, design discussions, and code reviews
• Utilize AI-assisted development tools to accelerate implementation and testing

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional Android engineering experience
• Deep knowledge of Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
• Experience with coroutines, Flows, and dependency injection
• Proven track record of leading architecture in modular Android codebases
• Experience shipping and supporting applications via Google Play
• Strong testing habits (unit, integration, UI, and end-to-end)
• Ability to lead complex projects from planning through launch
• Proficiency using AI coding tools in development workflows

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building Wear OS applications
• Experience with Health Connect or Bluetooth devices
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations
• Experience with Media3, CameraX, or real-time audio/video
• Experience with Room, WorkManager, and offline-capable design
• Experience in the fitness or health coaching industry
