Lead Level Designer

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of level designers
• Drive the creative vision and execution of levels to support gameplay and narrative
• Work closely with environment artists, narrative designers, and systems designers
• Review level layouts, encounter balance, and worldbuilding consistency
• Ensure levels meet performance, quality, and accessibility standards
• Contribute hands-on to level blockouts, encounter scripting, and gameplay prototyping
• Establish and refine level design workflows and pipelines
• Collaborate with production to scope, schedule, and track deliverables
• Advocate for player experience and engagement

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional level design experience in the game industry
• 2+ years in a lead or senior design role
• Track record of shipping at least one title in a leadership capacity
• Understanding of encounter design, pacing, and player progression
• Experience with level design tools in Unity or Unreal
• Experience guiding cross-disciplinary teams
• Strong communication and documentation skills for remote environments
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with ARPGs
• Experience with live-service pipelines
• Experience with multi-team collaboration
