Lead Product Designer

About the Company

Allocate is rebuilding private market investing for RIAs and family offices. Our platform brings together curated fund and co-investment opportunities, institutional-grade infrastructure, and the tracking, analytics, and administration tools clients need to model and manage exposure across venture capital, private equity, private credit, and other private asset classes.

Responsibilities

• Lead design for initiatives end to end including research, UX, UI, prototyping, and handoff
• Build interactive prototypes in Figma, Magic Patterns, or via code-assisted tools like Claude/Cursor
• Coordinate design across squads, manage dependencies, and run design syncs
• Collaborate closely with PMs, engineers, and stakeholders to define problems and shape solutions
• Develop deep working knowledge of private markets and client workflows
• Use AI-assisted tools for research synthesis, exploration, and prototyping
• Improve design systems, tooling, and team processes
• Mentor junior designers through feedback, reviews, and 1:1 coaching
• Support recruiting and act as a hiring manager for junior design roles

Requirements

• 5+ years in product design with increasing responsibility
• Proven experience leading projects or squads through full design cycles
• Strong systems thinking and experience with design systems and component libraries
• Proficiency in building interactive prototypes (Figma, Magic Patterns, or code-backed)
• Experience mentoring or managing junior designers
• Strong communication and storytelling skills
• Pragmatic, experiment-friendly, and evidence-led approach

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with fintech or private markets
