Lead Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead technical design and execution of the universal search platform expansion across multiple product surfaces
• Define extensibility patterns and integration approaches for internal and third-party data sources
• Review designs and pull requests regarding authorization, index mappings, and service contracts
• Coordinate complex releases across multiple services and stakeholders
• Own end-to-end delivery of permission-aware global search capabilities
• Mentor engineers and coach teammates through ambiguous technical decisions
• Participate in on-call support and lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for system issues

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Proficiency in Java with deep backend engineering experience
• Full-stack skills in React and TypeScript
• Experience with event-driven architectures (Amazon SNS, SQS, or Kinesis)
• Strong experience with AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, S3, ECS/EKS, DynamoDB, etc.)
• Understanding of indexing strategies, schema design, and query optimization
• Experience with CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code in microservices environments
• Proven track record of leading large-scale technical projects and mentoring engineers

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience owning platform capabilities spanning multiple teams or domains
• Familiarity with public safety or mission-critical software environments
• Knowledge of security best practices regarding authorization and data access
