Legal Counsel

Responsibilities

• Advise product and engineering teams on the legal and regulatory aspects of product design, development, and launch, specifically for payment and banking products
• Partner with business and compliance teams to develop and execute licensing and market entry strategies across multiple jurisdictions
• Provide forward-thinking regulatory guidance on payments, money transmission, cryptocurrency, foreign exchange, and cross-border transactions
• Support corporate legal matters including governance, employment, privacy, intellectual property, and strategic transactions
• Manage external counsel and consultants to provide cost-effective, high-quality legal services
• Build scalable legal processes and frameworks to support rapid company growth

Requirements

• JD from an accredited law school and bar membership in good standing
• 7+ years of legal experience, including significant fintech or financial services background
• Strong knowledge of financial services and payments regulations
• Proven ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice that balances risk with commercial objectives
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and high-growth environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge and experience with cryptocurrency and/or Banking as a Service (BaaS) products
• Experience working in a startup or high-growth company environment
• Significant experience with international regulatory regimes and cross-border transactions
