Lingala Interpreter - OPI/VRI

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate OPI/VRI interpretation between Lingala and English in healthcare and medical settings
• Render all messages completely without adding, omitting, or substituting content
• Maintain professional conduct and adhere to interpreter code of ethics
• Take detailed notes during calls to ensure accuracy
• Apply medical terminology knowledge and industry-specific vocabulary
• Facilitate communication between Limited English Proficient patients and healthcare providers
• Participate in internal professional training and pursue relevant certifications
• Comply with dress code requirements for video remote interpreting

Requirements

• Native fluency in Lingala and fluent English proficiency
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1+ years of OPI/VRI interpretation experience preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
• Healthcare industry certifications preferred (PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA)
• High emotional intelligence and cultural sensitivity
• Strong listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Windows 10 or higher (Chromebook and Mac not permitted)
• Dual-core 2GHz processor (Intel Core i5 or superior)
• 8GB RAM minimum
• Wired internet connection: 10 Mbps download / 3 Mbps upload minimum (Wi-Fi not allowed)
• USB wired noise-cancelling headset with built-in microphone (no Bluetooth/wireless)
• Computer operating in "High Performance" mode with power adapter plugged in
