Linguist (Yiddish)

Responsibilities

• Listen to live or recorded communications in Yiddish and produce verbal and written synopses and transcriptions
• Communicate pertinent information to law enforcement personnel during live monitoring
• Build and maintain master lists of slang terms, codes, and voice libraries for specific projects
• Transcribe and translate calls and documents to produce court-ready written products
• Operate specialized government-provided communications-collection software and equipment
• Maintain daily productivity logs in accordance with project requirements

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum one year of translation experience in Yiddish
• Proficiency in Yiddish colloquialisms, slang, and regional expressions
• Ability to score a 3 or better on third-party language assessments in English and Yiddish
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite
• Typing speed of at least 45 words per minute
• Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust eligibility
• U.S. citizenship or Permanent Residency with 3 of the last 5 years lived in the U.S.
