Mainframe developer

Responsibilities

• Develop, test and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2 and VSAM
• Analyse business requirements and translate them into technical designs
• Troubleshoot, debug and resolve production and pre-production issues
• Participate in code reviews, unit testing and system integration testing
• Produce and maintain technical documentation and runbooks
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (QA, BA, Ops) to deliver solutions on schedule
• Support deployment and release activities and follow mainframe SDLC best practices

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years mainframe experience
• Proficiency in COBOL
• Experience with CICS
• Proficient in JCL
• DB2 experience
• VSAM experience
• Analysis & design skills
• Troubleshooting & debugging
• Knowledge of SDLC and best practices
• Strong communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with z/OS environment
• Experience with performance tuning and batch job optimisation
• Familiarity with change management tools and version control on mainframe
• Exposure to IMS, MQ or other legacy integration technologies
• Relevant certifications or formal education in Computer Science / IT
