Job description
Responsibilities
- Lead planning and execution of marine restoration programme components including community engagement, science-based mapping, and ecosystem restoration
- Translate conservation objectives into structured implementation plans, budgets, timelines, and KPIs
- Provide technical leadership and scientific oversight for field activities, technical reports, and knowledge products
- Coordinate fieldwork including site access, stakeholder approvals, logistics, and vendor engagement
- Engage with government entities, academic institutions, private-sector partners, and fishing communities
- Prepare and monitor workstream budgets, track expenditures, and manage financial oversight
- Ensure project delivery aligns with contractual obligations, donor requirements, and defined KPIs
- Supervise multidisciplinary teams, consultants, and technical service providers
Requirements
- Master's degree or higher in Marine Science, Marine Ecology, Fisheries Science, Oceanography, or related discipline
- 8–12 years of progressive experience in marine conservation, environmental management, or coastal systems
- Demonstrated experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder environmental projects
- Proven track record delivering projects with defined milestones, KPIs, and structured reporting frameworks
- Field-based marine or environmental initiative experience
- Experience managing project budgets, financial oversight, and compliance requirements
- Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) preferred
- Fluency in English required; Arabic language proficiency highly desirable
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to marine ecosystem restoration, fisheries governance, or habitat monitoring
- Experience operating in the GCC/MENA region or comparable regulatory environments
- Familiarity with geospatial tools, remote sensing, AI-enabled analytics, or marine robotics
- Strong understanding of fisheries management, environmental policy, or circular economy frameworks
